Research

Research
I run the spatial sound research group with about 10 researchers (May 2011). About 60% of the work by the group is devoted to development of spatial audio reproduction techniques. Rest of the group researches the perception of spatial sound in complex audiovisual environments and functional modeling of auditory brain mechanisms. My list of publications can be found here.

The funding for the research originates from three sources. I am the principal investigator in EU ERC Starting Grant project "TePeSS - Technologies and Psychophysics of Spatial Sound" funded by the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) / ERC Starting Grant agreement no. [240453]. I also lead a project funded by the Academy of Finland with project number 121252. The work on Directional Audio Coding is also partly funded by Fraunhofer IIS (Erlangen, Germany).
